1961 : Une jeune femme en robe kabyle traditionnelle, Myriam, débarque gare d’Austerlitz, attendue avec impatience par son mari, Kader. Ainsi démarre la grande saga de la famille Baccouche.
Pendant plus de vingt ans, les Baccouche et leurs enfants, en particulier l’aînée, Yasmina, vont affronter une existence bien plus difficile que ce qu’ils avaient espéré.
